WOŚP 2026 - The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation

Some days remind you exactly why community work matters. Our recent WOŚP Grand Finale was one of those days – full of laughter, music, colour, emotion and that unmistakable feeling of people coming together for something bigger than themselves.

At Pinwheel International CIC, we believe that culture, kindness and collaboration can truly change lives – and this event was living proof.

What Is WOŚP and Why It Matters

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation (Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy – WOŚP) was founded in 1993 in Poland by Jerzy Owsiak. Its mission has always been simple yet powerful: to save lives by equipping hospitals with modern medical equipment and supporting healthcare for those who need it most.

Since its beginning, WOŚP has united millions of people – not only in Poland, but all around the world – through one annual Grand Finale that combines charity with music, culture and joy. It proves that helping others doesn’t have to be silent or sad; it can be vibrant, collective and full of hope.

The Goal of This Year’s 34th Grand Finale

The 34th Grand Final of WOŚP was dedicated to children’s health, with a clear and specific focus on: diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases in children.

Funds raised during this Grand Finale will support paediatric gastroenterology by providing specialist medical equipment for hospitals, helping doctors diagnose conditions earlier and treat young patients more effectively.

By taking part in this year’s Grand Finale, our community directly contributed to improving the quality of healthcare for children facing serious digestive system illnesses.

WOŚP Abroad – What It Means for the Polish Diaspora

For Poles living abroad, WOŚP is more than a charity event. It is a powerful symbol of connection, identity and shared values.

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation (GOCC) allows the Polish community outside Poland to come together once a year around something deeply familiar – language, culture, music and the instinct to help. It bridges generations, connects newcomers with long-settled families, and creates a sense of home away from home.

For many in the Polish diaspora, WOŚP is:

  • a reminder of where we come from

  • a way to pass values of solidarity to younger generations

  • a moment when distance disappears, and we all play in the same rhythm

In cities like Peterborough, the Grand Finale becomes a true community celebration – open, inclusive and welcoming to everyone.

Peterborough’s Result – A Community Achievement

Thanks to the generosity, energy and commitment of everyone involved, Peterborough raised an incredible £11,326.29 during the 34th Grand Finale.

This achievement belongs to:

  • the performers who shared their talent

  • the volunteers who gave their time and hearts

  • the sponsors and partners who supported us

  • and every single person who donated, bid, supported or simply showed up

Together, we turned joy into real help.

More Than an Event – A Shared Experience

From the moment the doors opened, the atmosphere was electric. Families, friends, volunteers and guests filled the space with warmth and excitement. Music echoed through the venue, children laughed, conversations flowed – and there was a strong sense that everyone belonged.

We danced, we sang, we watched incredible performances and took part in activities. But above all, we shared joy. This wasn’t just about watching something happen – it was about being part of it.

Looking Back with Gratitude – Looking Forward with Hope

As we look back on this unforgettable day, we feel proud, grateful and inspired. Events like this remind us that when communities come together across borders and cultures, real change happens.

Thank you for playing with us.Thank you for your trust, energy and heart.

We can’t wait to play again 💛
